You have to look in it
Setting them is easy enough. Emptying them is not. A sprung trap has to be found, picked up and properly looked at, and it is nearly always found first thing, by whoever is up first, still in a dressing gown, before the kettle has boiled. Then you wash your hands, reset it, and put it back in the same spot, because the gap that let the first one in is still exactly the width it was yesterday.
The real cost. A job before breakfast, repeated for as long as it takes.
