The short version
We collect what we need in order to take your order, deliver it, support it, and, if you ask for them, send you emails. We do not sell your personal information. The rest of this page is the detail.
What we collect
- Contact details: your name, email address, shipping address, billing address, and a phone number if you provide one for delivery.
- Order information: what you bought, what you paid, the currency, any discount code used, order and tracking numbers, returns and refunds, and your correspondence with support.
- Payment information: handled by our payment processor, not by us. We receive confirmation of payment, the card type and the last four digits. We never receive or store your full card number or security code.
- Device and usage information: IP address, browser and device type, operating system, referring site, and which pages of this store you viewed and when.
Why we collect it
To process and ship your order, take payment and prevent fraud, answer support emails, handle returns under the 90 day trial and claims under the 2 year warranty, send transactional messages such as order confirmations and tracking, understand how the store is used so we can improve it, and meet our legal, accounting and tax obligations. Where we rely on your consent, which is the case for marketing email, you can withdraw it at any time.
Who we share it with
Only the service providers that make the store work, and only the data they need.
- Shopify, which hosts this store and runs checkout.
- Our payment processor, and the wallet providers you may choose to pay with, including Apple Pay, Google Pay and Shop Pay.
- Shipping carriers, who receive your name and delivery address so that a parcel can reach you.
- Our email service provider, which sends order emails and, with your consent, marketing email.
We may also disclose information where the law requires it, or where it is necessary to establish or defend a legal claim. We do not sell or rent personal information and we do not pass it to data brokers.
Cookies and analytics
This store uses cookies. Some are strictly necessary: they keep your cart intact, keep you signed in, and secure checkout. Others are analytics and advertising cookies, which tell us in aggregate how people arrive at the store and which pages they read. You can refuse or delete cookies in your browser settings, and where a consent banner is shown you can decline the non essential ones. Blocking the strictly necessary ones will break checkout.
Marketing, and how to stop it
We only send marketing email to people who asked for it. Every marketing email carries an unsubscribe link at the bottom. One click, no reason required, and we act on it promptly. You can also email info@huskapestcontrol.com and ask to be removed. Unsubscribing does not stop transactional messages about an order you have placed, because those are part of the service you paid for.
How long we keep it
Order and transaction records are kept for as long as tax and accounting law requires, which in Canada is generally six years. Support correspondence is kept while it remains useful for trial and warranty claims, then deleted. Marketing contacts are kept until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete them. Analytics data is retained in aggregate form.
Security
Traffic to this store is encrypted with TLS. Card data is handled by PCI compliant processors and never reaches our own systems. Access to order data is limited to the people who need it to run fulfilment and support. No system is perfectly secure and we will not pretend otherwise, but if a breach ever affects your information we will notify you and the appropriate regulator as the law requires.
Your rights
You can ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, ask us to delete it, or withdraw your consent to marketing. Email info@huskapestcontrol.com and we will respond within 30 days. We may need to verify your identity first, usually by matching the email address on an order.
In Canada these rights sit under the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act, PIPEDA, and under the equivalent provincial legislation where that applies instead. If you are unhappy with how we handled a request, you may complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada. Residents of several United States states have comparable rights of access and deletion, and the same applies to rights under the UK GDPR, the Australian Privacy Act and the New Zealand Privacy Act. We apply the same process to all of those requests.
Children
This store is not intended for children and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has given us information, email us and we will delete it.
International transfer
We operate from Canada and ship to Canada, the United States, Australia, New Zealand and the United Kingdom. Our service providers, Shopify among them, store and process data on servers that may sit in Canada, the United States or elsewhere. Your information may therefore be processed outside your province or country, and may be accessible to the courts and authorities of those places under local law. We work with providers that commit to appropriate safeguards for such transfers.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes we will publish the new version here and update the date shown on the page. Material changes to how we use your information will be explained plainly rather than buried.
